About this event

Experience the magic of the preserve in Complete darkness! Join Preserve Manager Chad Lyman for a unique, nighttime exploration of Lemon Creek Wildflower Preserve under the pitch-black sky of a New Moon . With the sun completely obscured, our other senses will come alive as we navigate the trails, tuning in to the sounds, scents, and unique behaviors of the preserve’s nocturnal wildlife.

During this guided stroll, Chad will share expert insights into the ongoing habitat restoration of this former golf course, point out native nocturnal flora and fauna, and discuss how the darkness of the new moon cycle affects local ecosystems. Whether you are an avid nature lover or just looking for a peaceful evening under the stars, this walk offers a rare perspective on one of Englewood’s true ecological treasures.

🥾 What to Wear & Bring

To ensure a safe and comfortable hike, please come prepared for the nighttime elements:

• Footwear: Closed-toe walking or hiking shoes are required for safety.

• Clothing: Long pants and a long-sleeve shirt are highly recommended to protect against evening mosquitoes.

• Gear: Bug spray, plenty of water

• Optional: A small flashlight or headlamp (ideally with a red-light mode to preserve everyone’s night vision)

📝 Registration

• Max Capacity: 15 people

• RSVP: reserve your spot with Chad at chad@lemonbayconservancy.org

• Event is “Free of Charge” but donations are appreciated.
